Project Background
In May 2026, Dicle Elektrik hosted the fourth Turkish Energy Festival (DicleFest) in Şanlıurfa, Türkiye. Following the success of previous festivals, the organizer planned to build a large immersive dome as the main venue once again. The opening ceremony, panel discussions, and 360-degree immersive film presentations were all scheduled to take place inside the dome. Visitors could explore the energy industry and Dicle Elektrik's brand vision through a more engaging and interactive experience.
Having worked with other dome suppliers in the past, the organizer had higher expectations for the structure, projection quality, interior finish, and overall visitor experience. To make this year's event even more immersive and professional, they began looking for a more complete immersive dome projection solution.
With extensive experience in large-span dome projects and strong customization capabilities, Shelter Dome was selected to design and manufacture a custom 25m immersive dome for the festival. The structure was specially built for a negative-pressure projection system, featuring an eye-catching exterior and a spacious column-free interior. It also met the strict requirements for a smooth projection surface and a high-quality visitor experience, creating an engaging immersive space for the entire event.

Proven Large-Span Dome Expertise
Shelter Dome offers different large dome solutions for different project needs. For permanent buildings or extra-large span projects, we usually recommend the lamella dome. Its frame has a more regular layout and distributes weight evenly. This gives it excellent strength and long-term stability. It is a good choice for exhibition halls, museums, and other permanent buildings.
For temporary events like DicleFest, we chose a large geodesic dome. This type of dome is ideal for projects that need a strong visual impact and an immersive experience. Its shape is closer to a true sphere, giving it a more impressive look. It also creates a smoother surface for immersive projection. This helps reduce image distortion and improves the viewing experience.
Shelter Dome has completed many large-span dome projects with diameters from 10 to 50 meters. These projects include a 30-meter immersive projection dome for the Guangzhou Light Festival. We also built several 15- to 25-meter domes for Intel product launches. For the opening ceremony of Hamad Port in Qatar, we supplied 10-, 25-, and 40-meter event domes. Professional Projection Configuration
Shelter Dome has strong experience in immersive projection systems. For the DicleFest project, we used an inside projection system. We supplied not only the 25m large-span dome structure but also a complete projection screen system. This included a 2-meter-high black screen around the lower part of the dome and a white projection screen that covered the upper projection area.
Each screen has a different purpose, and together they create a better immersive projection environment. The black screen absorbs stray light and reduces interference from surrounding light. This improves color, contrast, and overall image quality. It also hides equipment and structural parts inside the dome, helping visitors focus on the projected content and enjoy a more immersive experience.
The white screen is connected directly above the black screen and covers the entire projection area. It provides a smooth and even surface for projection. This helps produce clear images with consistent color across the full 360-degree display. Together, the black and white screens improve both projection quality and the overall viewing experience.

For the DicleFest project, we created several custom features for the 25m immersive dome based on the organizer’s event plan. The dome was designed with three custom entrances to improve visitor flow and support event operations. We also added the organizer’s logo to the exterior of the dome to enhance brand visibility. The logo was carefully produced based on the original design, including its shape, proportions, and colors, to ensure it matched the brand identity.

Challenges and Solutions
With extensive experience in large-span dome immersive experience projects and strong project capabilities, Shelter Dome successfully supported the implementation of the DicleFest project. However, building a 25m immersive dome also brought new challenges. These included maintaining a smooth projection surface inside the dome and reducing echo caused by the spherical space.
Precision Installation
One of the key challenges of the DicleFest project was creating a smooth and stable projection surface inside the 25m large-span dome. Since the inside of a dome has a complex curved shape, even small surface unevenness could affect image quality and cause distortion or visual issues.
To solve this challenge, Shelter Dome made improvements in both structural design and screen installation. First, we optimized the frame connection points to reduce internal structures that could affect the projection surface. In addition, because a large dome screen cannot be made from one single piece of material, we used 3D modeling to design the screen layout. Each screen section was precisely cut, and the connection points were carefully planned to create a smooth and continuous projection surface.
Based on this design, Shelter Dome worked with professional projection partners to use a negative-pressure pump system. The system evenly pulled the projection screen against the inside of the dome, improving its flatness and stability. During installation, the team adjusted the screen tension and suction effect according to the site conditions to ensure the final projection quality met the project requirements.
Through improvements in structural design, screen preparation, and on-site adjustments, Shelter Dome successfully solved the challenge of maintaining a smooth projection surface for a large-scale negative-pressure projection dome. This helped create a stable and high-quality immersive projection space for DicleFest.
Acoustic Optimization
Another challenge of the DicleFest project was controlling sound reflections inside the large-span dome. Due to its spherical shape, a dome space can easily create echoes and concentrate sound in certain areas.
To solve this issue, Shelter Dome considered the acoustic needs during the design stage. We optimized the interior layout, selected suitable inner materials, and worked with professional audio teams to adjust the sound system. These efforts helped reduce sound reflections and created a clearer and more comfortable immersive experience for visitors.
Outcome
The 25m dome structure designed and manufactured by Shelter Dome, and projection system were installed within just two weeks. After full testing and adjustments, the dome was successfully put into use and supported the successful launch of DicleFest. During the event, the dome served as a 360-degree immersive planetarium, hosting themed film presentations, light shows, and other interactive displays. It attracted many visitors and was especially popular among children and young people.
