Project Background
Vondom is a high-end furniture design brand from Spain, known for its innovative designs and unique style. The brand focuses on creating furniture that is both eye-catching and functional, earning worldwide recognition in the design community. When it came to designing a product showroom, Vondom stayed true to its creative and modern approach.
For this project, Vondom came to Shelter Dome with the idea of creating a unique, modern glass house for their showroom. Unlike traditional glass houses that use large transparent windows and walls to create an open, airy feel, Vondom wanted something different. We designed the showroom with a fresh, modern glass house design that combines style with a unique space experience.

Capture Attention and Strengthen Brand Identity
Compared to traditional rectangular or straight-line modern glass house designs, the dome-shaped showroom with multiple triangular frames offers a unique, almost spherical structure. When combined with glass materials, the dome creates a modern and cutting-edge visual effect. From the outside, the design immediately grabs people's attention, sparking their curiosity and interest. Once inside, the impact is even more striking. This design not only leaves a lasting impression of the displayed products but also strengthens visitors' connection to the brand.
Enhance the Functionality of Space
Modern glass house with dome as showroom is not only visually striking but also highly functional. Unlike traditional rectangular or square showrooms, the dome design has no internal support structures, allowing for maximum use of the space. This increases the usable area and makes the layout more flexible. Without the constraints of a traditional design, Vondom can easily adjust the showroom layout, offering visitors a variety of visual experiences in different space arrangements.
Improve Construction Efficiency and Flexibility
The glass modern house uses a modular design, with all the modules designed and produced in the factory. This reduces the need for on-site construction. The modular dome structure is easy to transport and speeds up the setup process. It also requires less labor and fewer tools, which helps shorten the project timeline. Plus, the design offers more flexibility. If the showroom needs to be moved, it can be easily taken down and relocated to a new site.
Enhancing Long-Term Investment Value
Despite its modular design, this dome glass house offers long-term value. The Shelter Dome’s modern glass house features double-laminated glass, which is more impact-resistant than traditional single-layer glass. Even if the glass breaks, the inner laminate holds the shards together, preventing them from scattering. This reduces the risk of injury to people and damage to the exhibits.
The dome uses a triangular frame design, which is the most stable shape in geometry. This helps distribute external stress evenly, strengthening the overall structure. Additionally, the frame is made from 6061/T6 aluminum alloy, known for its high strength and excellent corrosion resistance. Under normal conditions, the structure can last for over 15 years. The dome is also designed to withstand wind loads up to 140 km/h and snow loads of 40 kg/m². This ensures long-lasting performance, making it a solid investment for any exhibition space.
Challenge
When designing this modern glass house, we discussed with the client how to balance openness and privacy in the glass. While completely transparent glass is visually appealing for modern glass houses, it can compromise privacy and fail to protect the mystery of the exhibits or confidentiality in certain situations.
After exploring different types of glass, we decided on double-laminated, coated gray glass. This choice ensures privacy for both the interior and exterior, while giving the building a sleek, classic black look that enhances its visual appeal.
Outcome
After the glass modern house design and production were completed, the components were quickly shipped to Vondom’s headquarters for installation. Both during the installation process and after it was finished with Vondom furniture, the modern glass house displayed incredible beauty and appeal.
Shortly after the dome was set up, Vondom hosted a “Dome Experience” event. Around 200 guests joined the company to celebrate and experience the charm of Vondom’s products and the brand’s philosophy inside the stunning dome structure.
